Duneminder

  
Description: The Duneminder is a deep-desert creature that lives within piles of sand. The thin blade on its back is made to stick up out of the top layer. It is a way for duneminders to find each other and communicate. The top section of it glows with bioluminescence at night, but the duneminder can make it flicker or pulse. Imagine the view of an endless, sandy desert, but a forest of glowsticks prick up out of the barrens at night. It's quite the sight to see, if you're ever in the area of the western Exes. The small white ball on the tip of the blade is believed to be some sort of visual sensor, able to read the glowing sea of lights. 

The physicality of the beast is strange, so for reference, we've included this view from the front:
As you can see, the wings are made to lay flat against the sandy floor and push it, ever so slowly, in the direction it wishes to move. It also has an arm on the front, which doubles as a mouth. The duneminder is covered in hardened skin armor, which protects it during sand storms. The three-layered bone over the eyes can be retracted to protect the beast fully.
